Stephen joined Henness & Haight as an attorney in October 2019. He is a 3rd generation Las Vegan and a graduate of Durango High School. Stephen attended UNLV where he studied Political Science. During his undergraduate studies, Stephen spent two years living in Paris, France where he provided volunteer humanitarian service to the French people.
In 2014, Stephen’s wife Cherie was hit head on by a drunk driver. Her injuries required her to undergo extensive medical treatment. After the wreck, Stephen and his wife decided to not retain an attorney. They felt that given the circumstances and the grievous actions of the drunk driver, the insurance company would undoubtedly treat them fairly. They quickly realized that their assumptions were far from reality, so they called Henness & Haight, who were able to quickly resolve the matter. It was then that Stephen witnessed firsthand the vital importance of attorneys and decided to return to school and receive his law degree.
In May 2019, Stephen earned his Juris Doctorate from the William S. Boyd School of Law. He also received the Highest Pro bono Honors Award for completing over 150 hours of volunteer work. During law school he served as judicial extern to Probate Commissioner Wesley Yamashita, and he served as an Editor for the UNLV Gaming Law Journal. Stephen also made the Dean’s Honor List and was awarded numerous CALI Awards for achieving the highest grade in several of his classes.
After his first year of law school, Stephen was fortunate to be offered a law clerk position with Henness & Haight. He was thrilled to work for the same firm who had helped him and his wife in 2014. Throughout his clerkship Stephen gained invaluable personal injury law experience and found a passion for helping people in need. Through his own personal experiences he knows how difficult life can become after being injured, and he works tirelessly so that his clients can focus on getting better.
In his spare time Stephen enjoys spending time with his wife and children, attending UNLV basketball and Vegas Golden Knights games, traveling, playing sports, and volunteering for his local church and in the community.
