On Friday, May 12, team and family members of Henness & Haight gave back to the local community by volunteering in a food packing event hosted by the Nevada Justice Association at the Three Square Food Bank in North Las Vegas.

During the “Meals for Moms” event, the team packed lunches that would later be distributed to underprivileged students and their mothers throughout the valley. In a single day, the team helped pack more than 8,000 meals.

3 Square is the only food bank servicing Clark, Lincoln, Nye, and Esmeralda counties and is a leading force in aiding hunger relief in our community. The food bank collects and stores donated food and, through the help of volunteers, these fresh and nutritious food items are sorted and packaged into ready-to-eat meals. The meals are then distributed year-round to children at schools, as well as to thousands of residents who would otherwise struggle to feed their families.

According to the 3 Square website, 15.6% of Clark County residents are food insecure, and approximately 117,000 children living in Southern Nevada regularly go hungry. The food bank relies on the help of its volunteers to help pack and distribute meals to all of those in need in our community.

“3 Square is such a wonderful organization,” founding partner Mike Haight stated. “I didn’t know there were that many children in Clark County affected by food insecurity. Our team wasn’t just packing snacks, but actual meals for these students. At our firm, we help people every day, but we can only help one person at a time. With only 12 people from our firm, we were able to help pack thousands of meals for these children and their families. We made a very big difference in a very short amount of time, and I’m really proud and grateful that 3 Square gave us the opportunity to give back to our community.”
